Austria is quickly becoming a hotspot for upcoming talent and Manta is proof, “Everlasting” captures all electrifying dynamics needed to create a dance floor anthem all wrapped around the vocal brilliance of Frida Vamos. Mean Teeth have been turning a lot of heads in recent times and this one sets them on a new musical level. For the first time, alongside their ability to provide a powerful production of solid bass and drums at the heart of this very underground track we witness Mark from the outfit laying down dystopian edged vocals. “We Hold on” is a beautifully written piece of contemporary Drum & Bass. Habit offers an unflinching roller with that carries more much weight than freight train. Void returns with a Euphoric hands in the air weapon, high energy is the order of the day and a perfect piece of dance floor D&B. Salaryman, a name that is prolific with delivering a combination of different DnB cuts, comes with “Breathe” a sublime liquid roller layered with spaced out chords that are blended into a crisp uplifting drum set underpinned by a warm soul satisfying sub bass. NC-17 joins the onslaught with a jungle influenced rumbler “Warmest Color”. Huge saturated bass lines, otherworldly atmospherics, a reverberating hypnotic vocal sample and steppy breaks provide the dynamics for this monster of a track. Bad Syntax and Tobax’s “Switch” has a no holds barred ethos Just straight haymaker drums, whipping bass lines and laser powered synth lines to draw out the midnight skankers.
Alongside the exclusive music are the three VIP’s, first to mention is from one of Austria’s finest duo’s Dossa & Locuzzed - who gave us the smash hit “Cargo” released on Mayan’s Summer Drum & Bass 2016. A whole different perspective from the original with twists and turns all loaded with spine tingling synths and heavyweight bass. The perfect package! Intraspekt too pulls the VIP move on a past Mayan favourite “Moody”, growl basses and screw-faces with this retake and Kritix featuring Deuce & Charger notch up the dance-floor devastation to the liquid number.
Mayan Audio have balanced all the spectral elements that make modern drum and bass, with heaps of summer time flavour!
