Mampi Swift’s Charge Recordings has been at the top of the game ever since its launch way back in 1997. Bringing together all of Swift’s knowledge and expertise, the man himself makes sure only the best music comes out on the label. And the imprint has stood the test of time exactly because Mampi has kept that quality high.
Now, CHRG049 descends from a great height with not only the massive I Exist, but also the Rene LaVice remix of Soldiers. Both tracks show just why Mampi and Charge are still at the top of the game after all these years. Support for the label has come from Andy C, MistaJam, Friction, Hype and more, and is set to only continue with the new release.
I Exist unites everything we love about Mampi Swift. Hard, harsh synths flow over a rushing, building beat and after the drop, Swift unleashes an otherworldly bassline, bringing everything together with strength and power. Creeping samples roll over the top, and the whole tune is marked out as individual, different and fresh. It’s the drive on this one, though, that you’ll remember. Simply massive, expect to hear this one everywhere. To hear it is to exist.
Rene LaVice does a simply amazing job on Soldiers. Building the track up in sections, he goes from light and airy in the intro right into the classic lift, unleashing things in the drop. You’ll nod along to the main beat, and skank out in the mini-breaks. LaVice shifts the tempo in the synth work, putting his stamp on Swift’s anthemic original. Let the music move you, as alarms and effects rain in from the top, before the Canadian remixer takes things back for a few moments rest. He soon raises up again though, finishing things with an extra dose of bass.
Charge never disappoint. CHRG049 doesn’t disappoint. Get it now.
